For the preliminary print task we have been asked to design a front cover of a school/college magazine and do a mock up of the contents page.
The front page must include a mid shot of a student as the main picture, the requirements of the task are that you have to do a mock-up of the contents page, but I may just do the real thing instead, as I will be able to get more practice before having to do the main task.
This picture also put the school in a good light, making it look green and natural with the grass and the hedges.
This makes the school look natural, calm and a beautiful place to work.
Has "harlington upper" in informal handwriting style to make it look less formal, it has unique things this week in the "sweet spot" The mid picture of student to the right. The masthead and the website both lead into the school motto "know thy self" At the bottem there are three pictures of the school. To show a little bit about the school.
I decided "Harlington upper" because it is short and more catchy than any of the other names, its also simple.
These are the fonts for the mast head and also the title in the contents page, I chose a less formal handwriting style, to apeal to my primary audience. Because it is aimed at 6th form i want the magazine to be informal but still suitable for the work place.
This is the mock up fo my contents page, It is going to have pictures of the school down the left in an informal manner. and what is actually in the magazine on the right. I have two main sections "Regular features" which contains regular stuff, and "this week" which is stuff that is unique to this week.
These are my annotated front covers, i used these to give me ideas on what i should do for my front cover, There is a range of ideas in these front covers, some have the main picture in the center, some have it off to the left, some are more colourful etc.

These helped to decide how i was going to design my front cover, what the layout will be and what kind of things i will put iin the contents page.
This questionaire is to help me design my front cover and contents by asking people that are in school/college what the like in a school/college magazine.
These are a couple of ideas to help decide what was going to go on my front cover and where abouts on the page. it also gave me chance to see how big things needed to be on the page.
